Saturday is the Big Day!
Friday, 04 April 2008

Hi,

Adam, the volunteers and referees have been working hard behind the scenes to make Gameathon really special this year. We all have hopes that we can show the area a great event and make this an annual deal.

Adam has sent out an email to all registered gamers with rules and notes. The Expo opens at 10:00 am in MMTH. We'll be setting up TV's and equipment up until that time. It will be crazy getting things in place. Competition starts at 11:30. Be sure to check-in at the registration table to confirm your slot.

Thanks to Colby Westerfield, the SJB Lab Manager, we plan to simulcast Gameathon online in video. Check the camera links above. I hope you can make it. But, if you can't you can still watch. Better yet, tell everyone you know to tune in!

I'm really looking foward to seeing everyone.

Best,

Gameathon Update
Tuesday, 25 March 2008

Welcome!

Glad to see you made it to the home of WKU Gameathon. If you are new to the event, check out the press room or our FAQ for more information. You can also read Adam's blog to the left for updates.

We have plastered the campus and the community with Gameathon posters. Look for Herald ads on TH and next Tuesday. We will also have tent cards in Aramark restaurants on campus. Online registration will stay open until next Thursday, April 3rd at 5:00 pm. Space is limited, so register as soon as possible to guarantee your spot. Depending on space in the various games, we may accept a few walk-ins Saturday morning.

We have just about finalized prizes. As it stands tonight, 1v1 winners from Madden 08, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4 and Guitar Hero 3 will each receive a $50 gift card from GameStop, a very cool Gameathon T, a MT Dew Sweatshirt and other great prizes. Same deal for the 4 team winners from RockBand!

Keep in mind that the 4 winners from each 1v1 heat are qualified to compete in the MMTH auditorium with a "mystery game" to be declared the WKU Gamemaster and score the grand prize - a 26" LCD TV and surround sound system from Best Buy!

Remember, that admission is Free. Godfather's Pizza is Free and Pepsi products are Free. The Expo will have Free game play all day beginning at 10:00 am. You can't beat the price and you might even win some cool gear!

Lot's of last minute details. Our MySpace page up at http://www.myspace.com/wkugameathon. Laura and Adam also have us up as an event on Facebook. Tell your friends and any other ideas to gain some additional buzz are much appreciated.

Hope to see you all at Gameathon.

Live Registration
Monday, 03 March 2008

Hi Everyone,

With just over a month to go, Adam and the team have made some great recommendations for this years' Gameathon. We know this will be the biggest and baddest videogame competition in the region! It's all about a good time with your favorite games. We appreciate all the support from the gamers and our terrific sponsors!

The Expo opens at 10:00 am in MMTH on Saturday, April 5th. Competition begins at 11:30 am. You can now sign up for a maximum of two games as long as they are not being played at the same time. All games are 1v1, except Rock Band which is team based. We have scheduled 1v1 competitions with Halo 3 or Madden 08 @ 11:30 and COD 4 or Guitar Hero @ 2:00. Rock Band will begin in the MMTH auditorium at 11:30 am with big sound, lights and special effects. It will be a blast to play and even more fun to watch.

Registration is first come, first served. We will probably hold total registrations to 300. So, the sooner you register the better. We are still working out prizes. But, we have allocated a 3rd of the budget to prizes and our sponsors will be helping out as well. Stay up to date with event manager Adam Faragalli's blog to the left for the latest details.

Use the registration forms above to register. As usual, don't hesitate to use our contact form or e-mail me direct at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it with any questions or ideas to make this a stellar event. We have also included a form for gamers who want to help or to referee a game.

Best,
